Fraser Hewitt lives south of Theodore in the Shire of Banana!
Fraser is a fifth generation farmer who manages 27,000-acre Charvel Grazing, along with his father and two brothers Finley and Kelen.
The Hewitt family produces wheat, chickpeas and mung beans, and this year trialed sorghum returning their first sorghum crop in ten years!
What is Fraser continually striving towards?
“We always place emphasis on soil health. Our country is sandy loams with some flood out country which needs ongoing management.”
The family also focuses on increasing yields whilst decreasing input, and enjoy keeping ahead of the curve with the latest technology.
What does Fraser love most about his lifestyle in grain?
“Every day is something different – when it’s busy it’s busy, but when it’s quiet, you get to enjoy the other parts of life. Farming offers a great home-life balance.”

“Mateship. Mates in the grain industry get you out of a bind. When you break down, they’re always there to help.”
